New owners have initiated a complete renovation of the historic Hotel Savoy in Oslo. The hotel closed this month for a 14-month upgrade period and will reopen as a brand new boutique hotel in the spring of 2026.

The investment company Glastad has purchased the property alongside co-investors. HEIMR Collection will be the tenant and operator, with companies from the Njord Group facilitating and managing the property.

The renovation includes a complete upgrade of 90 rooms. Additionally, there will be a new restaurant, bar, meeting facilities, a backyard garden, a fitness center, and a wellness area.

"This investment reflects our desire to highlight our historic heritage while introducing modern luxury and comfort. We are proud to breathe new life into Hotel Savoy and recreate it as a 'home away from home' for both Norwegian and international guests. Additionally, we are focused on creating a new central meeting place for the people of Oslo" says CEO Endre Glastad of Glastad.

Hotel Savoy is an institution in Oslo's hotel scene, having first opened its doors in 1918. In its new form, the hotel will retain its original charm in both interior and atmosphere, while combining this with modern design elements.

"We look forward to presenting a luxurious boutique hotel that will be a great addition to HEIMR Collection, as a sister hotel to the prestigious Hotel Victoria in Stavanger and Opus XVI in Bergen" says Terje Ropstad, CEO of HEIMR Collection.

Even on the street level, people will notice the upgrade. The legendary Savoy Bar will be revived in a new form, and the hotel will also have a new restaurant.

Metropolis Architecture & Design and design agency Bielke&Yang have been involved to further develop the hotel's identity. The architects for the project are Kritt Arkitekter, while LS Entreprenør has been given the contracting job.
